All forms of art connect with people because art can inspire us to navigate our emotions in many ways. Step into the shoes of a subject, or a fictional character. Is there something in that character’s behavior that you admire and strive for or are repulsed by? Or do they look at the world in a way that can make you have a eureka moment and inspire creativity that is applicable to the real world? Art is idealistic and cathartic. It can teach us how we can and should act or it can simply give us peace of mind.

I draw portraits of people in ballpoint pen with quiet focus. Each freehand portrait is an attempt at capturing the accuracy and soul of the subject as much as possible.

Working with minimal tools pushes me to rely on observation and maximize the medium. I’m driven to improve into a portrait artist of the highest possible level.
